Celebrating Educators:

A National Apprenticeship Week Spotlight on Educator Apprentices

National Apprenticeship Week is all about celebrating the people, programmes and partnerships that make apprenticeships such a powerful route for growth and development. This year, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the success of our outstanding Educator Apprentices.

Across the NHS and health and social care, thousands of professionals are responsible for training, supporting and developing others. Many step into educator responsibilities without ever having had the opportunity to gain a formal teaching qualification. This apprenticeship changes that.

Our Educator Apprenticeship is tailored specifically for NHS and community care settings, supporting professionals who teach and develop others in clinical, practice development, workforce development and allied health roles.

Early insights from the Midlands Educator Apprenticeship

The Midlands cohort is made up of 17 allied health professionals from Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. They are around six months into the 14-month programme – and the early insights are incredibly encouraging.

100% Learner Satisfaction
All learners rated both the training sessions and the trainer as Good or Excellent.

Progress Ahead of Expectations
Average cohort progress is 48%, compared to an expected benchmark of 27% at this stage.

NHS Contextualised Impact
Learners report strong relevance to their real-world NHS and healthcare educator roles.

Increased Confidence in Roles
Learners are actively embedding learning into practice with increased confidence.

Learners have highlighted how interactive sessions, peer discussion and reflective space are helping them develop both professionally and personally.

This alignment between confidence, engagement and progress tells a compelling story: when educators are properly supported, they thrive – and so do the learners they support in turn.

A National Apprenticeship Week Thank You

During National Apprenticeship Week, we want to say a huge thank you and congratulations to our Educator apprentices. Your commitment, openness and willingness to reflect are what make this programme such a success. You are strengthening education across the NHS and health and social care – and ultimately improving experiences and outcomes for learners, colleagues and patients alike. We’re excited to continue supporting you on the journey ahead and to see the lasting impact this apprenticeship will deliver.
